What we do

Garage door repair and installation

Every job is quoted flat before work starts, and the service call is free when we do the repair.

Spring Replacement

Most Weston homes went up between the early nineties and the mid two thousands, which puts the original torsion springs well past their cycle life. We replace them in matched pairs, size the coil to the actual weight of your door rather than to the old one, reset the balance and test the door by hand. Most jobs run $200 to $500 installed.

Cables and Drums

A cable that has been fraying quietly at the drum will let one side of the door drop without warning. We replace both cables as a set, check the drums for grooving, re-level the door and make sure it stops pulling to one side on the way up.

Opener Repair and Install

Dead logic board, stripped nylon gear, misaligned safety eyes, or a unit that hums and goes nowhere. Repairs typically run $150 to $300. A new opener supplied and installed is usually $350 to $650 depending on horsepower and drive type. A belt drive is worth the difference when there is a bedroom over the garage.

Off Track Doors

A door off its track after a bump or a snapped cable is not a do it yourself fix. We secure the door, reseat the rollers, straighten or replace bent track sections and check every hinge before we hand it back. Running the opener on an off track door is how a cheap repair turns into a bent panel.

New Door Installation

Replacing a door in Broward means a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance or an HVHZ rated Florida Product Approval, because Broward sits in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, plus a permit and an inspection. In most Weston villages it also means architectural approval before anything is ordered. We pull the product data sheet and the approval number for your board, then set the new door plumb once it clears. If your job prices over $2,500 there is one page you sign yourself, the construction lien law notice in your contract, and we walk you through it first. Single doors typically run $700 to $2,000 installed, doubles $1,200 to $4,000.

Annual Tune Up

Heat cycling and summer humidity are hard on a door a long way from the water. We lubricate the torsion bar and bearings, tighten the hardware that vibrates loose over a season, check the roller stems and reset the opener force and travel limits. Most tune ups run $90 to $150.

Warning: do not try a spring, cable or torsion repair yourself.

Garage door springs are under extreme tension and can cause serious injury or death if handled without the correct tools and training. Nothing on this page is instruction to repair one. Call (954) 335-8453 and we will handle it. Full safety notice.

Why Weston

Why Call Weston Garage Door Repair Co

We Work Inland

Weston is not a beach town and the doors here do not fail like beach doors. What we see is twenty five year old hardware, sun baked weather seal, opener gears that finally gave out, and springs that were never sized right when the house was built. We quote for that, not for a coastal problem you do not have.

The Price Comes First

You hear the full number before we open a toolbox, including parts, labor and haul away. If the door needs something we did not expect, we stop and ask you before we touch it.

HOA Paperwork Is Part Of The Job

Most Weston villages require the board to approve a replacement door before it is ordered. We hand you the model photographs, the panel and color spec and the Florida Product Approval number, so your submission has what it needs the first time.

About us

About Weston Garage Door Repair Co

Weston Garage Door Repair Co is a new company working Weston and the communities west of I-75. We are not going to tell you a story about decades in business, because we do not have one yet. What we can tell you is how we work: one door at a time, priced up front, with the failure explained in plain language before anything gets replaced.

We built the business around the housing stock out here. Weston, Southwest Ranches, Davie, Cooper City and the western halves of Pembroke Pines and Miramar filled in through the nineties and two thousands, so a very large number of garages are still running original springs, original rollers and a first generation opener. Those parts do not fail politely. They fail on the morning you need to leave.

Questions

Straight answers

How much does a broken spring cost to replace?
Most spring jobs run $200 to $500 installed for a matched pair, depending on the weight of the door and the size of the spring. We replace both springs even when only one is broken, because the second one is the same age and will fail soon after. The price is confirmed before any work starts.
Do I need a permit to replace my garage door in Weston?
Yes. Broward cities permit and inspect garage door replacement, and the door has to carry a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance or an HVHZ rated Florida Product Approval, because Broward sits in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone. The garage door is part of the wind envelope of the house, so this is not paperwork worth skipping.
My HOA has to approve the door first. Can you help with that?
Yes, and in most Weston villages it is required. Boards here usually want the panel style, the color and the window inserts approved before installation. We give you the product data sheet, the Florida Product Approval number and photographs of the exact model, so your submission is complete the first time.
Why do doors out here fail if there is no salt air?
Heat and cycles. A door in this climate expands and contracts every day, weather seal goes brittle under direct sun, and the grease in the bearings dries out. Add fifteen thousand or more open and close cycles on the original springs and the hardware reaches the end of its life whether or not there is salt in the air.
Can you come out the same day?
Often yes, especially for a broken spring or a door stuck open, which we treat as a security problem rather than an inconvenience. We will give you a real arrival window rather than a vague afternoon, and if we cannot make it today we will say so when you call.
I have a double and a single door. Do they have to match?
If both are visible from the street, most boards here will want them to match, and it usually looks wrong when they do not. Where only one door has failed we will tell you honestly whether the second can be repaired to keep the pair, or whether replacing both now is the cheaper decision across the next few years.

Call For A Flat Price

Tell us what the door is doing and we will tell you what it costs. Hurricane season runs June through November and the garage door is the largest opening in the wall, so a door that is sagging or sticking is worth handling before the first storm watch.
